![]() We also did a tour package of Tulum/Xel-ha. You can go down the underground rivers for free. Unless you really want to go out to the coral reef for snorkeling - don't rent the equipment. Xcaret is a must do - and do stay for the show! It's incredible. Nor were we prepared for the aggressiveness of the shopkeepers although we had been warned about that. The air in Cancun (and I understand most of Mexico) has a bit of a sewer smell. Some things we didn't know before going that surprised us. I highly recommend the Xtenben shrimp! We also used the card at a couple of other places for drinks - however, one day at Carlos & Charlies, it was good for drinks, the next day it was not. We hardly ate anywhere else! We did get the Brant card (2 for 1) and used it at Faro's for a wonderful dinner. The breakfast and evening buffet are very good. From our room, we could see the pirate ships. The resort is very family oriented - the pool side of the hotel was a little noisier than we were wanting (we were escaping from our kids) but the other side was much quieter and equally enjoyable. We met a number of really great people who also had a similar experience with the presentation. We sat through the presentation - and were treated very well when and after we said no thank you. We also had to wait to be shown to our room but we spent it in the lobby bar becoming acclimated. The rug and sofa in our suite showed a little wear, but the room was so clean, the entire resort was so clean! Manuel was always cleaning something! The staff was very friendly, patient and helpful. We were very pleased with our accomodations. We found that the review that best describes our time is found at "A very pleasant surprise", dated. I had read many reviews prior to going - so I had something of an idea of what to expect. We've just returned from Cancun and a week's stay at the Casa Maya (12/11 - ). I highly recommend the Xtenben shrimp! We also. ![]() ![]()
